One of the highlights of Rajinikanth's Jailer (2023) was the impactful cameos by other language super stars like Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar. Mohanlal as Mathew and Shiva Rajkumar as Narasimha stole the show in the commercial potboiler directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

Now Jailer 2 has commenced shooting. The first schedule began on April 12 in Kerala, featuring key scenes between Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan. A 14-day schedule is planned, with additional filming set to take place in Chennai and Hyderabad.

Rajinikanth is confirmed to return as the titular character, Muthuvel Pandian. Other cast members so far announced (informally) is SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu. Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer.

The question that however is upper most in many fans' mind is: Will those biggies again play cameos in this sequel too? 

Well, not sure about the likes of Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff. But the Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar is confirmed to be part of Jailer 2 too. 

Shiva Rajkumar revealed his involvement during a press conference for his upcoming Kannada film '45 – The Movie'. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to his cameo in the first film, stating, "I am part of Jailer 2, and the shooting has already begun."

In Jailer, Shiva Rajkumar's commercial role and mannerisms --- walking in with a cigar and casually pushing a tissue box — was a big hit with audiences worldwide. Reflecting on the scene, he humorously remarked, "Even today, my wife asks me what exactly I did in Jailer. I swear I have no idea why the tissue box made so much noise!"

But his role in Jailer 2 is under wraps.

Jailer, it may be recalled,  grossed over  Rs 625 crore globally, becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time. Shiva Rajkumar early this year returned from the US after undergoing treatment for bladder cancer.
