Thalapathy Vijay's farewell film Jana Nayagan witnessed a sharp decline in box office collections on its second day after opening strongly in theatres. According to early estimates from trade tracker Sacnilk, the H. Vinoth-directed political thriller earned ₹21.15 crore (net) in India on Day 2, taking its two-day domestic total to ₹63.85 crore.
The film recorded a fall of nearly 50.5 per cent from its opening-day collection of ₹42.70 crore (net). Despite the drop, Jana Nayagan continued to perform well across key markets, with its India gross collection reaching approximately ₹75 crore after two days. Overseas, the film reportedly collected an estimated ₹10 crore (gross) on Day 2, pushing its worldwide gross earnings to around ₹112.50 crore.
The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor to the film's Day 2 earnings, collecting ₹17.95 crore. The Hindi version added ₹1.85 crore, while the Telugu version contributed ₹1.35 crore to the domestic total. The figures underline the film's strongest performance in Tamil-speaking regions, although it also attracted audiences in other language markets.

Occupancy figures reflected the typical trend of improving attendance as the day progressed. The film registered an overall occupancy of 44.33 per cent on Friday. Morning shows recorded 32.77 per cent occupancy, followed by 37.23 per cent in the afternoon. Evening shows improved to 47 per cent, while night screenings witnessed the highest occupancy at 60.31 per cent.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features Vijay in a politically charged role and is widely regarded as his final film before shifting his focus to politics. The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, Narain, Monish Blessy and Teejay in prominent roles. It has been produced by Venkat K. Narayana, Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith N.K. under the KVN Productions banner, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Although the second-day collections declined significantly from the opening, the film has maintained a strong overall start at the box office. Industry observers will now closely watch its weekend performance to assess whether positive word-of-mouth and increased footfall during Saturday and Sunday can help sustain its momentum in the coming days.
