The box office battle between ‘Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam’ (NEEK) and Dragon is set to continue as both Tamil films make their OTT debut today. While Dhanush’s directorial NEEK begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Pradeep Ranganathan-starrer Dragon lands on Netflix.
Directed by Dhanush, ‘NEEK’ was released in theatres on February 21 but struggled commercially despite decent reviews. Its Telugu version ‘Jabilamma Niku Antha Kopama’ also failed to make an impact. Now, the film is hoping for a better reception on streaming platforms.
Dhanush announced NEEK’s OTT release on Amazon Prime Video starting March 21, with dubbed versions expected on the same day. Starring Pavish Narayan, Anikha Surendran, Priya Prakash Varrier, and Matthew Thomas, the film revolves around a heartbroken chef whose arranged marriage takes an unexpected turn when his fiancée encourages him to attend his ex-girlfriend’s wedding for closure.
Produced by Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi Kasthuri Raja under Wunderbar Films, ‘NEEK’ features music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Leon Britto.
In contrast, ‘Dragon’, a Tamil coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, was a theatrical success, grossing ₹146.50 crore compared to NEEK’s ₹7.50 crore. The film, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Kayadu Lohar, quickly became a blockbuster after its February 2025 release.
Backed by AGS Entertainment, Dragon features an ensemble cast including Anupama Parameswaran, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, K.S. Ravikumar, and George Maryan. With music by Leon James and cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy, the film now arrives on Netflix for streaming audiences.
With both films launching on OTT today, audiences can decide which reigns supreme in the digital space.
