Actor Bobby Deol has revealed that a major portion of the upcoming film Jana Nayagan was shot on studio sets because of Tamil superstar Vijay’s immense popularity. In an interview, Bobby said filming in public locations would have been extremely difficult due to the actor’s massive fan following, making controlled indoor sets a practical choice for production.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Bobby praised Vijay’s stardom while also highlighting his humble personality. He said that taking Vijay to public locations would make it impossible for the team to complete the shoot because of the attention he receives from fans. Despite his popularity, Bobby described Vijay as a simple, quiet and private person who prefers to stay away from unnecessary publicity.

Bobby also spoke about his experience working in South Indian cinema and the strong connection between actors and audiences in the region. He said fans in the South often show extraordinary support for their favourite stars and the film industry. Recalling his participation in the Celebrity Cricket League alongside actor Mohanlal, Bobby said he witnessed stadiums being filled with fans who travelled in groups to support their idols.

The actor also discussed the language differences during the making of Jana Nayagan. Since much of the film’s dialogue and conversations were in Tamil, Bobby said he depended on the director for explanations during the shoot. Although he did not have extensive interactions with Vijay on set, he said he appreciated the actor’s calm nature and professionalism.

Bobby further revealed that Vijay once mentioned acting in a remake of one of his earlier films. The reference was to Villu (2009), Vijay’s Tamil remake of Bobby’s 1998 Hindi film Soldier. The Tamil star had reportedly attended a special screening of the film before its theatrical release.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth and produced by Venkat K. Narayana, features Vijay and Bobby along with Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain. The film has been described as Vijay’s farewell project before he focuses more on his political career with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Originally planned for a Pongal release, the film faced certification delays before arriving in theatres.
