Filmmaker Jeetu Joseph has issued a stern warning to the makers of Ajay Devgn’s Hindi Drishyam 3, threatening legal action to ensure the Malayalam original, starring Mohanlal, takes precedence. The controversy erupted amid rumors that the Hindi version was set to begin production before the Malayalam film, prompting Joseph to assert the priority of his version, which he considers the franchise’s cornerstone.
In an interview with Matrubhumi, Joseph clarified, “There were talks of producing the Malayalam and Hindi versions simultaneously, but no final decision was made. Initial plans to start the Hindi version first were dropped after we hinted at legal consequences.” He also revealed he completed the climax for Drishyam 3 recently, admitting, “I’ve been under immense pressure for a long time.”
Speculation about the Hindi Drishyam 3 had been rife, with reports suggesting Ajay Devgn’s team was preparing to kick off filming. However, Joseph emphasized that the Malayalam version, led by Mohanlal as George Kutty, is still in the screenplay stage and slated to begin shooting in October 2025. The Hindi adaptation is expected to follow.

According to Pinkvilla, Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 is scheduled to start filming on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, a significant date for the franchise. The shoot will span three months, featuring real locations in Maharashtra and studio setups, with Devgn already reserving his dates.
The Drishyam franchise, renowned for its gripping storytelling, continues to generate buzz, but Joseph’s stance underscores the importance of respecting the Malayalam original’s legacy as the Hindi version moves forward.
