Adrien Brody made waves at the 2025 Oscars—not just for winning Best Actor for ‘The Brutalist’, but for his bold and unscripted moments that stole the show.
As he took the stage to accept his second Academy Award, Brody made a last-minute decision to get rid of his gum. With no trash can in sight, he casually tossed it to his girlfriend, designer Georgina Chapman, who caught it without hesitation.
But the real highlight came during his acceptance speech. When the Academy attempted to play him off with music, Brody wasn’t having it. “I’m wrapping up, please turn the music off. I’ve done this before. Thank you. It’s not my first rodeo, but I will be brief,” he asserted, drawing applause from the audience. The moment echoed his 2003 Oscar win for The Pianist, where his speech left a lasting impression.
Reflecting on his career, Brody acknowledged the fleeting nature of success. “It looks very glamorous, and at certain moments, it is. But the one thing I’ve gained, having the privilege to come back here, is perspective. No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you’ve accomplished, it can all go away.”
In another standout moment away from the main stage, Halle Berry and Brody recreated their iconic on-stage kiss from 2003—this time on the red carpet. While Brody was mid-interview, Berry, in a shimmering silver gown, playfully interrupted and leaned in for a kiss, delighting onlookers. Chapman, watching from the sidelines, clapped and laughed, as Berry jokingly turned to her and said, “I’m sorry!”
Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday saw Brody not just claim another Oscar but also achieving a rare two-for-two record in this category.
