HBO has released the official teaser for its highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, marking a major milestone in the long-awaited adaptation of JK Rowling’s globally celebrated novels. The teaser follows the initial first look unveiled a day earlier and confirms that the series will premiere this Christmas.
The teaser depicts Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter walking toward the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch, clad in a Gryffindor robe against a snowy backdrop, signaling a faithful recreation of the iconic wizarding world. HBO described the series as “a new era of Hogwarts,” highlighting its ambition to expand the beloved universe for a new generation of viewers.
The central trio is completed by Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, while veteran actors bring other key characters to life. Nick Frost will portray Hagrid, John Lithgow takes on Dumbledore, Janet McTeer plays Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu will assume the role of Severus Snape.

The series represents HBO’s largest streaming project to date, backed by Warner Bros, and follows years of careful development. The Harry Potter novels, consisting of seven books, have sold over 600 million copies worldwide, and their eight film adaptations grossed more than $7 billion globally. HBO aims to build on this legacy with the new series, combining high production values and expansive storytelling.
Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO and Max Content, told The Hollywood Reporter that such large-scale productions require extensive preparation, explaining that shows like Harry Potter cannot be produced annually. He indicated that the series will likely follow a bi-annual release schedule, similar to other major franchises such as House of the Dragon and The Last of Us.
Filming for the series has been underway since last summer in the United Kingdom, and fans can expect the first episodes to arrive this Christmas, offering a fresh and immersive take on one of the most celebrated literary and cinematic franchises in history.
