The project has drawn significant attention not only for its scale but also for its unprecedented budget. Producer Namit Malhotra revealed that the film is being made at an estimated cost of around $500 million (over ₹4,000 crore) for both parts combined. He emphasised that while the scale is massive, the production aims to balance ambition with efficiency, positioning the film as a global cinematic spectacle rooted in Indian storytelling.
Adding to the film’s appeal is its music, composed through a unique collaboration between A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. The duo is working together for the first time, blending Indian musical elements with global soundscapes to create a score that resonates with audiences worldwide while staying true to the epic’s cultural roots.
The film is planned as a two-part release, with the first instalment scheduled for a global release in October 2026 around Diwali, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027. With strong backing, star power, and high expectations, Ramayana is positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, aiming to bring a timeless story to audiences across the world.
