Speaking exclusively to Firstpost while promoting her upcoming projects, including the action film The Bluff and her return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli's Varanasi, Priyanka explained that the move was not a deliberate abandonment of her roots but a response to seeking more expansive opportunities as an artist.

“I don't think I ever wanted to leave Bollywood,” she stated. “I felt limited for many reasons when I was working in Hindi films. I wanted to expand. I was kind of pushed into wanting to look for opportunities that would be exciting to me as an artiste. I landed up working in America, and now, after almost 12 years or so, I am finding the momentum to pick and choose really amazing work, and that's not easy.” The comments address long-standing speculation about her shift, which began around 2012 with her music career and led to breakout roles like in the ABC series Quantico, establishing her as one of the few Indian actors to achieve mainstream success in Hollywood.

Priyanka emphasized that her journey has allowed her to straddle both industries without choosing one over the other. She described the experience of balancing Bollywood and Hollywood as “unique, amazing and fun,” highlighting how she now enjoys the freedom to select meaningful projects across borders. Her Hollywood credits include films like Baywatch, Isn't It Romantic, and productions under her production banner, while she has maintained ties to Indian cinema through selective comebacks and international collaborations.
