The Election Commission of India, in a significant pre-publication move, uploaded the complete list of deleted voters from West Bengal’s draft electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise, merely hours before the official release of the draft rolls scheduled for December 16, 2025. The list, accessible on the Chief Electoral Officer’s portal at ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asd_sir, contains names that were present in the 2025 electoral rolls but have now been excluded from the 2026 draft version.
According to official sources within the Commission, more than 58 lakh enumeration forms remained uncollectable during the house-to-house verification process conducted as part of SIR 2026. These forms pertain to voters whose physical presence could not be established, leading to their automatic removal from the updated electoral database.
Deletions have been executed under strict statutory grounds, including prolonged absence from the registered address, permanent relocation to another location, death of the voter, or detection as duplicate entries appearing in multiple constituencies. The Commission has emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral rolls ahead of the crucial assembly elections.

Affected individuals have been granted a clear window to challenge their exclusion by submitting Form 6 along with a mandatory declaration and relevant supporting documents such as proof of residence or identity. The period for filing claims and objections commences immediately upon publication of the draft roll on December 16, 2025, and will remain open until January 15, 2026, providing citizens nearly a month to rectify any errors.
The purification of electoral rolls assumes heightened importance as West Bengal prepares for elections to its 294-member Legislative Assembly, expected to be held in the first half of 2026. The final electoral rolls, incorporating all verified claims and objections, are slated for publication in early February 2026, setting the stage for one of the most keenly watched state elections in the country.
