Actor Vishal has publicly praised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s decision to shut down 717 liquor outlets located near schools, temples, and bus stands, calling it a significant step toward public welfare and women’s safety. The announcement was made in Vijay’s first major administrative order after taking oath as Chief Minister following a high-profile swearing-in ceremony at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. The directive mandates the closure of liquor shops operating within 500 metres of sensitive public spaces, including educational institutions and places of worship.
Reacting to the move, Vishal shared a video message on social media platform X, expressing strong support for the decision. He lauded Vijay’s action, writing, “Kudos to you, whistles to you. Hats off to you. Dear CM Joseph Vijay avargal. Thank you for the announcement to close 717 wine shops, especially the ones near schools. What a move.”
In his post, Vishal also raised concerns about the presence of TASMAC liquor outlets near schools, stating that many girl children have reportedly faced harassment in such areas. He extended his support to the Chief Minister, adding, “God bless you dearest #Vijay. #ThalapathyVijay #CMJosephVijay. I salute you and your government today,” while highlighting his longstanding friendship with Vijay dating back to their college days.

Vijay’s decision comes shortly after a politically significant election outcome in Tamil Nadu, where his party TVK emerged as the single-largest force, winning 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly. However, as the party fell short of a majority, it formed the government with support from alliance partners including the Congress, two Left parties, and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.
His oath-taking ceremony had already drawn widespread attention, not only for its political significance but also due to the presence of actor Trisha, whose interactions at the event sparked social media discussions. Clips of her meeting Vijay’s family and her emotional reaction during the ceremony went viral, further fueling online speculation. The next day, Trisha added to the buzz with an Instagram post captioned “Love is always louder,” which quickly became the subject of intense social media debate.
