Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has shared an emotional account of the turbulent journey behind his latest horror release Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, which finally reached theatres after multiple delays and prolonged production difficulties. The film’s eventual release, he noted, marks the end of a long and exhausting struggle marked by financial strain, legal troubles, and repeated production setbacks.

Bhatt revealed that the project began approximately two and a half years ago with optimism following the success of his earlier film 1920: Horrors of the Heart. However, what initially appeared to be a straightforward production quickly turned into a prolonged crisis. According to his account shared on social media, the film encountered financial difficulties just ten days into shooting, when funding reportedly ran out, forcing the team to seek emergency financial support to continue production.

To keep the project alive, the production unit resorted to borrowing money at interest and renegotiating agreements with vendors and service providers. Bhatt described this phase as a constant balancing act, where the priority was simply to ensure that filming did not come to a halt. Despite these efforts, the production continued to face instability as additional complications emerged during the shoot.

The challenges did not end once filming was completed. Bhatt stated that the project encountered further setbacks during post-production, including delays linked to visual effects work and other technical processes. He described a cascading series of obstacles that affected nearly every stage of filmmaking, from shooting schedules to final editing and finishing work, making the completion of the film increasingly difficult.

In one of the most striking revelations from his note, Bhatt also recalled spending 75 days in prison during the period when the film was still unfinished. While he did not elaborate extensively on the circumstances in his public post, he suggested that this period added further emotional and logistical strain to an already difficult production environment. The experience, he implied, became part of the broader turmoil surrounding the film’s completion.

Despite these setbacks, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past eventually made it to theatres after repeated delays. Bhatt noted that the film has received encouraging audience attention during its opening weekend, standing out among other releases and offering a measure of relief after years of uncertainty. The reception, he suggested, has helped validate the effort that went into keeping the project alive through its most difficult phases.

Reflecting on the entire journey, Bhatt described the film as one that endured nearly every possible production challenge, from financial breakdowns and legal complications to post-production delays. He emphasised that while the process was exhausting, it ultimately demonstrated resilience and persistence in the face of repeated setbacks.
