Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara, starring debutant Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, has taken the box office by storm, grossing Rs 83 crore domestically in its opening weekend, as reported by trade websites. The Yash Raj Films production has set records for the highest opening day for a debutant-led film and a love story, surpassing the lifetime collections of Alia Bhatt’s Student of the Year (Rs 70 crore) and Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar’s Dhadak (Rs 73 crore).
The film follows Krish, a passionate musician played by Pandey, and Vaani, a reserved lyricist portrayed by Padda, whose emotional connection through songwriting forms the heart of the story. Saiyaara opened with Rs 21 crore, followed by Rs 25 crore on day two, and an estimated Rs 37 crore on day three, per Sacnilk. This outperforms Suri’s previous films, including Ek Villain (Rs 16 crore opening day), Aashiqui 2 (Rs 6 crore), and Murder 2 (Rs 7 crore).
Competing with blockbusters like Chhava (Rs 122.43 crore), Sikandar (Rs 90.25 crore), and Housefull 5 (Rs 91.83 crore), Saiyaara ranks among the top-grossing opening weekends. Its chart-topping soundtrack, featuring seven songs by composers Mithoon, Sachet–Parampara, Tanishk Bagchi, Rishabh Kant, Vishal Mishra, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nisami, has fueled its success. The film also stars Geeta Agarwal, Rajesh Kumar, Varun Badola, and Shaad Randhawa in pivotal roles.
