Veteran actor Pavan Malhotra has praised filmmaker Aditya Dhar for recognising the talent and potential of senior actor Rakesh Bedi in the film ‘Dhurandhar’, saying the director’s decision to cast him alongside a star-studded lineup showcased his confidence in the actor’s abilities. Malhotra said Bedi’s performance in the franchise has brought him renewed appreciation and attention from audiences. Speaking to ANI, Pavan Malhotra expressed happiness over Rakesh Bedi’s recent popularity and revealed that he personally called the actor to congratulate him.

He said that Bedi’s success in Dhurandhar was a reminder of the depth of talent possessed by experienced performers who continue to bring value to cinema with the right opportunities. Malhotra highlighted Aditya Dhar’s conviction in selecting Rakesh Bedi for the role despite the presence of major stars in the film. Recalling those days, Malhotra said that David Dhawan, Rakesh Bedi, and Raman Kumar lived on the ground floor, while he and filmmaker Sudhir Mishra stayed on the second floor. The actor said those early years were an important phase of their careers when many artists were working to establish themselves in Mumbai’s entertainment industry. Malhotra further recalled his association with Rakesh Bedi during the popular 1984 television sitcom ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, where he worked as an assistant director. Bedi played an important role in the show, which became one of the most remembered comedy programmes on Indian television.

Over the years, Rakesh Bedi has built a reputation through his work in films, television, and theatre, known for his comic timing as well as his ability to portray diverse characters.
