South Indian cinema veteran Sathyaraj, beloved for his iconic role as Kattappa in the "Baahubali" series, revealed that meeting legendary screenwriter Salim Khan overshadowed the thrill of acting alongside Salman Khan in their upcoming film "Sikandar." The action thriller, set to release on March 30, casts Sathyaraj as the main antagonist opposite Bollywood’s superstar.
At the trailer launch press conference, Sathyaraj shared his delight when Salman introduced him to his father with the words, "Papa, Kattappa." Reflecting on the moment, he said, "When I was in college, I knew Salim-Javed made heroes with their scripts. Meeting Salim ji is a bigger opportunity for me than acting with Salman ji." With 47 years and 258 films in the industry, Sathyaraj credited director A R Murugadoss for reviving his early career vibe as a sarcastic villain—a role he once pioneered.
"Sikandar" features a powerhouse cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sharman Joshi. Aggarwal, of "Singham" fame, described the experience as "humbling," noting that the excitement of filmmaking remains timeless. Joshi, known for "3 Idiots," lauded Salman’s generosity, saying, "He’s a gem of a person. Working with him was an honor."
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, "Sikandar" promises high-octane drama. Yet, for Sathyaraj, the real highlight was meeting Salim Khan—a cherished moment that eclipsed even the allure of starring with Salman.
