Acclaimed writer-director Sudip Sharma, known for creating hit web series like Paatal Lok and Kohrra, has said he has no interest in working with Bollywood Superstars Shah Rukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan, stressing that storytelling matters more to him than star power.
In a recent interview, Sharma said he never entered the industry with the ambition of collaborating with specific actors. He explained that his primary goal has always been to tell the stories he believes in, adding that working with major stars would bring added pressure that does not align with his creative process.
Sharma noted that big stars come with established screen images, which often require scripts to be shaped around their persona. He said he prefers writing characters first and then casting actors who can fully immerse themselves in those roles, rather than tailoring narratives to suit celebrity expectations.

The filmmaker added that excessive focus on fan reactions and stardom can sometimes overshadow the film itself, something he is keen to avoid. According to Sharma, he would feel nervous handling the responsibility that comes with directing projects headlined by megastars.
Sudip Sharma began his feature film journey with NH10, followed by critically acclaimed films like Udta Punjab and Sonchiriya. He later found major success in the OTT space, with his recent Kohrra Season 2—starring Barun Sobti and Mona Singh—earning strong reviews and entering Netflix’s global Top 10 non-English shows list.
