Social media creator Nazma Shaikh has clarified that actor Rajpal Yadav was not asked to leave the prayer meet for late actor Mushtaq Khan, disputing the impression created by a viral video circulating online. The video appeared to show Shaikh confronting Rajpal and asking him to leave the premises, leading to claims that the actor had been stopped from attending the funeral. In a new video shared on Friday, Shaikh said her anger was directed at people who were taking pictures during the funeral rather than at Rajpal, and urged people to understand the complete context before drawing conclusions.
Shaikh said Rajpal shared a close bond with Mushtaq Khan and described him as someone who considered the late actor like an elder brother. She said Rajpal had been with Mushtaq around two hours before his death and was also present when his body was taken to the graveyard. According to Shaikh, Rajpal attended the prayer meet as well, contradicting the impression that he was unwelcome at the gathering. “The reality is that Rajpal bhaiya was very close to Mushtaq Khan. He considered him like an elder brother, and they shared a very close bond,” she said while explaining the circumstances surrounding the viral video.
Shaikh said the controversy arose because her reaction in the video was directed at people who were taking photographs during a sensitive moment at the funeral. She explained that she was upset with those who were allegedly present primarily to click pictures without considering the atmosphere or the fact that people had gathered to mourn. “My anger was directed towards those people who were there only to click pictures, without understanding the kind of atmosphere they were in,” she said. Shaikh added that her anger was not directed at Rajpal and sought to distinguish the actor from those whose conduct she objected to at the funeral.

The social media creator also appealed to members of the media not to build misleading narratives around the footage. She said the videos circulating online had resulted in “misconceptions” and asked people to consider the full circumstances before reaching conclusions about what happened. “I want to make it very clear that my anger was not directed at Rajpal Bhaiya,” Shaikh said, adding that the people taking pictures had been her concern. She further urged her media friends to understand the complete context and publish what she described as the whole truth rather than relying on an interpretation of the short viral clip.
Mushtaq Khan died on September 24 at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital after his health deteriorated following a cancer diagnosis. His son Mohsin Khan had earlier said that the actor had been battling cancer and that his condition had progressed rapidly. Mushtaq’s last rites were held in Mumbai on September 25, with several members of the film industry attending to pay their respects. Among those present were Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Manish Wadhwa, Shehzad Khan, Zaid Darbar, comedian Sunil Pal and filmmaker Anees Bazmee.
Shaikh’s clarification now provides her account of the circumstances behind the viral footage involving Rajpal at Mushtaq’s prayer meet. While the original video led to claims that Rajpal had been asked to leave, Shaikh has said her confrontation was aimed at people taking photographs during the mourning gathering and not at the actor. She has also highlighted Rajpal’s close relationship with Mushtaq and his presence during the final ceremonies. Her comments seek to put the viral footage in context and counter the narrative that Rajpal was removed from or unwelcome at the late actor’s funeral.
