Maddock Films' Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) has surpassed the ₹1500 crore milestone in worldwide box office collections, propelled by the ongoing success of its latest entry, Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. The vampire-themed romantic comedy, released on October 21, 2025, has grossed over ₹160 crore globally in under three weeks, marking it as the third-highest earner in the franchise behind Stree 2 (₹874.58 crore) and the original Stree (₹180.76 crore). Producer Dinesh Vijan celebrated the achievement with a social media poster featuring key characters from the interconnected series, captioning it: “Chanderi se chaand tak, Maddock Horror Comedy Universe ka yeh safar rahega yaadgaar hamesha. Here’s to 1500 crore moments of love and gratitude.”
The franchise, rooted in Indian folklore and supernatural humour, includes five films: Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022, ₹89.97 crore), Munjya (2024, ₹132.13 crore), Stree 2 (2024), and Thamma. Bhediya remains the only underperformer at ₹95 crore, yet the universe's cumulative haul now positions it as India's fourth-highest-grossing film franchise, overtaking Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe (₹1411 crore) and the KGF series (₹1420 crore). It trails far behind the YRF Spy Universe, which exceeds ₹3000 crore across titles like Pathaan and War.
Thamma's contribution has been pivotal, with the film crossing ₹150 crore worldwide despite mixed reviews and a ₹145 crore budget, achieving 'average' to 'hit' status through strong festive openings and word-of-mouth. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, it connects the universe via cameos from prior entries, blending mythology with romance and earning praise for its VFX-heavy climax featuring Khurrana's vampire confronting Varun Dhawan's werewolf.

Maddock has ambitious plans ahead, announcing eight more films through 2029, including sequels like Bhediya 2 and Stree 3, new entries such as Shakti Shalini and Chamunda, and a two-part crossover event, Pehla Mahayudh and Doosra Mahayudh. This Marvel-inspired expansion underscores the franchise's profitability—boasting over 1350% ROI—and its role in redefining Hindi cinema's genre-blending success. As Thamma continues its theatrical run, the MHCU's milestone highlights audience appetite for culturally grounded supernatural tales amid Bollywood's evolving cinematic universes.
