Salman Khan-starrer Maatrubhumi has reportedly received a no-objection certificate from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry after undergoing substantial changes, potentially clearing the way for its theatrical release. According to a report cited by Hindustan Times, the film's revised version was approved last week, although the makers have not officially confirmed the development.
Maatrubhumi was initially developed around the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The film, earlier titled Battle of Galwan, reportedly faced uncertainty over its portrayal of China and underwent reshoots after objections from the Defence Ministry to its earlier anti-China positioning.
According to a source cited by Bollywood Hungama, the revised film is significantly different from the original version and now includes references to India-China relations in a positive light. The report said the changes were part of the process that led to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry being satisfied with the film's latest version and issuing the reported NOC.

The film's possible release date is also being discussed, with Salman Khan reportedly considering November 13. The report said the date would place the film in the post-Diwali period, which the actor reportedly considers suitable for its theatrical release. However, the film still needs to complete the certification process before a release can be confirmed.
The makers are expected to submit Maatrubhumi to the Central Board of Film Certification, according to the report. If the certification process is completed during October, the film could potentially arrive in cinemas on November 13. The reported date has not been officially announced, and a clearer picture is expected in the coming days.
Produced by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and features Chitrangada Singh in a pivotal role. The film was originally scheduled for release in April but was postponed, while its makers previously rejected reports that it had been shelved.
