Actor Shivaleeka Oberoi has criticised social media users for body-shaming Katrina Kaif following the actress' recent public appearance after becoming a mother. Shivaleeka, known for films including Khuda Haafiz, reacted to the online comments through an Instagram story, calling the trolling "ridiculous" and urging people to stop promoting unrealistic expectations around postpartum appearance.

Katrina recently made a rare public appearance at the funeral of filmmaker Kuku Kohli, who died on August 25. She attended the event with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal, and photographs and clips from the gathering were widely shared on social media. Several users subsequently posted negative comments about her appearance, focusing on changes in her body following childbirth.

Reacting to the criticism, Shivaleeka highlighted that physical changes are a normal part of postpartum recovery. She wrote that motherhood can involve bloating, exhaustion and other changes, and questioned why people continue to expect women to immediately conform to unrealistic standards after giving birth. She also urged social media users not to glorify an idealised version of motherhood that does not reflect the experiences of many women.

Katrina and Vicky welcomed their first child, a son named Vihaan, in November 2025. The actress has largely stayed away from public appearances since becoming a mother and is currently taking a professional break from films. Her most recent major theatrical release was the 2024 film Merry Christmas, in which she starred alongside Vijay Sethupathi.

Shivaleeka also pointed to the wider pattern of online commentary surrounding Katrina's recent appearance. Social media users posted remarks questioning her appearance and health, with some making derogatory comments about her weight and age. Shivaleeka's response has brought renewed attention to the pressure faced by public figures, particularly women, to maintain a certain appearance even during significant personal and physical changes.

Shivaleeka began her career as an assistant director before making her acting debut with Yeh Saali Aashiqui in 2019. She later gained recognition through Khuda Haafiz and its sequel. Meanwhile, Katrina continues to focus on motherhood, while Vicky is preparing for his upcoming projects, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
