A week after its release on Netflix, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ has topped the platform’s trending movies list. The actor-turned-MP has been actively sharing reviews and reactions on Instagram, celebrating the film’s success.
Among the praise, a social media user suggested that ‘Emergency’ should be India’s Oscar submission. However, Kangana dismissed the idea, calling the award “silly” and accusing America of being a global bully.
“But America wouldn't like to acknowledge its real face, how they bully, suppress, and arm-twist developing nations. It's been exposed in Emergency,” she wrote while resharing the post. “They can keep their silly Oscar. We have National Awards.”
Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta also shared his thoughts, admitting that he had “prejudged” the film but was pleasantly surprised.
“Very frankly, I wasn’t planning to watch Emergency as I had prejudged it. I’m so glad I was wrong. What a fantastic film by Kangana—both performance and direction. Top-notch and world-class,” Gupta wrote.
Kangana responded by urging the film industry to set aside biases. “The industry must move past hate and prejudices and acknowledge good work. Thanks for breaking that barrier, Sanjay ji,” she wrote.
A viewer also praised her performance, calling it her the best ever. Kangana encouraged audiences to watch and judge for themselves. ‘Emergency’, which released on Netflix on Friday, continues to trend at number one, surpassing Ajay Devgn’s ‘Azaad’ and Naga Chaitanya-Sai Pallavi’s ‘Thandel’ in the movies category.
Recently, Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar finally put an end to their five-year-long legal feud, marking a significant resolution in their years-long dispute over defamation.
The culmination occurred at a magistrate’s court in Mumbai, where both parties reached an agreement through mediation. Kangana Ranaut took to social media to announce the development, sharing a picture alongside Akhtar, emphasising his kindness and graciousness throughout the process.
