Agastya Nanda's debut theatrical film, Ikkis, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, continues its steady performance at the domestic box office. Released on January 1, 2026, the war drama collected ₹1.5 crore on its sixth day (first Tuesday), pushing its cumulative total to ₹23 crore. Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that the film is poised to cross the ₹25-crore mark in the coming days, maintaining a modest but consistent run in its opening week. The movie witnessed an overall Hindi occupancy of 15.55% on Tuesday, with night shows leading at 22.63%, followed by evening screenings at 18.76%, afternoon at 14.42%, and morning shows recording the lowest at 6.37%.
The film's strong start saw it earn ₹22.05 crore in its first four days, prompting a proud shoutout from megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Agastya's grandfather. Sharing a collection poster on Instagram, Big B wrote, "YO ... Agastya ... way to go," celebrating his grandson's milestone in his first big-screen release. Bachchan had earlier attended a special screening and penned an emotional blog post reflecting on personal memories—from Agastya's birth at Breach Candy Hospital to holding him as a baby, watching him grow, and now seeing him command the screen in Ikkis. His heartfelt words highlighted the deep familial pride surrounding the project's success.
Ikkis is a biographical war drama based on the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India's youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, awarded posthumously for extraordinary bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Agastya Nanda steps into the lead role, delivering what has been described as a promising debut performance. The ensemble cast features veteran actor Dharmendra in his final on-screen appearance as Brigadier Madan Lal Khetarpal (Retd.), the father of Arun Khetarpal, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat portraying Brigadier Jaan Mohammad Nisar. The film's narrative blends intense battle sequences with emotional family moments, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the young officer.

While Ikkis has not set the box office on fire, its collection trajectory reflects a respectable hold in a competitive January window, aided by positive word-of-mouth and the emotional appeal of its subject matter. The film's performance gains added significance as Agastya's first theatrical outing, following his earlier appearance in Zoya Akhtar's The Archies, which premiered directly on Netflix. As the movie approaches the ₹25-crore milestone, it continues to draw audiences interested in patriotic war dramas, with expectations that it may sustain momentum over the weekend.
The release of Ikkis also marks a notable moment for the Bachchan family, with Amitabh Bachchan's public endorsements underscoring the generational transition in Indian cinema. The film's grounded storytelling, strong performances, and historical significance have helped it carve out a niche audience, even as it competes with other releases in the early days of 2026. With its current pace, Ikkis remains on track to achieve a respectable final tally in the domestic market.
