Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has grossed Rs 9.09 crore at the domestic box office in its first two days, according to the film’s makers. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, known for her acclaimed short film Bebaak, the romantic drama hit theaters on August 1, 2025, following delays due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, produced by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, overcame significant cuts to secure its release.
The makers announced the box office figures via a poster on X, stating, “A love that soars! 9.09 crore. Dhadak 2 in cinemas now.” The film opened with Rs 4.31 crore gross on its first day and saw a slight uptick to Rs 4.78 crore gross on Saturday, reflecting steady audience interest. They urged fans to book tickets, posting, “Love chose to fight, and it’s winning at the box office!”
A spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit Dhadak, which launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, Dhadak 2 explores the intense love story of Neelesh (Chaturvedi), a Dalit law student, and Vidhi (Dimri), an upper-caste classmate, battling casteism and societal prejudice. Despite positive reviews for its hard-hitting narrative and performances, the film faces stiff competition from Son of Sardaar 2 and Saiyaara, which continues its strong run. With a limited release on 1,000 screens, Dhadak 2 aims to leverage word-of-mouth to boost its weekend performance.
