Bollywood stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri are buzzing with excitement as their romance-drama Dhadak 2 gears up for a theatrical release on August 1, 2025. The film, a sequel to the 2018 hit Dhadak, faced delays due to censor board hurdles but has now emerged stronger, with the actors confident it’s arriving at the perfect moment. Directed by debutante Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 promises a heartfelt yet hard-hitting tale of love tangled in the complexities of casteism.
Overcoming Censor Challenges
Originally slated for November 2024, Dhadak 2 hit a roadblock with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), requiring significant edits before approval. Chaturvedi, speaking to PTI, shared his eagerness for the film’s release, especially for first-time director Iqbal. “It’s her debut, crafted with immense love. The process took a few extra months, but we were sure it’d come out at the right time,” he said. Dimri echoed, “Every film has its moment, and this is Dhadak 2’s.”
A Story of Love and Social Realities
Dhadak 2 follows Neelesh (Chaturvedi) and Vidhi (Dimri), two lovers from different caste backgrounds, navigating societal barriers. The actors emphasized the film’s sensitive approach to its heavy themes. “Our director was clear from day one—she didn’t want to overdramatize or oversimplify the issue,” Dimri said. “We focused on real emotions and treated the story with utmost honesty, because that’s what it deserves.” Chaturvedi added that the film balances entertainment with a subtle message, avoiding a preachy tone. “It’s real, sensitive, and meant to reach a wide audience with a little note that lingers.”

Behind-the-Scenes Chemistry
This marks the first collaboration between Chaturvedi and Dimri, though their paths nearly crossed earlier. Chaturvedi revealed he auditioned for the lead in Dimri’s 2018 breakout film Laila Majnu, a role that went to Avinash Tiwari. “I was 22, a bit too young for Majnu,” he recalled, laughing about his Pune photoshoot for the audition. “Our paths crossed again with Inside Edge, but Avinash left for Laila Majnu, and I got my break.”
Chaturvedi didn’t hold back his admiration for Dimri, calling her a “national crush” whose star power soared with Animal during Dhadak 2’s shoot. “She’s playing one of her strongest roles yet in this film,” he said. Dimri, in turn, praised the team’s collaborative spirit and Iqbal’s clear vision.
Looking Ahead
Beyond Dhadak 2, both actors have exciting projects lined up. Dimri stars opposite Shahid Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara, an experience she described as transformative. “Working with Vishal sir taught me so much about my own potential,” she said. Chaturvedi, meanwhile, will share the screen with Jaya Bachchan in Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, a musical love story. “Jaya ji is a happy, talented soul. I learned so much, and we had fun breaking the ice,” he shared.
A Collaborative Triumph
Produced by Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 also features Saurabh Sachdeva and Zakir Hussain. With its blend of romance, social commentary, and stellar performances, the film is poised to spark conversations and win hearts. As Chaturvedi and Dimri put it, the journey to the big screen was worth the wait—Dhadak 2 is ready to make its mark.
