Difficult Daughters, a new indie project produced by Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, and actor Soni Razdan, has been selected for the highly competitive Asian Project Market (APM) at this year’s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
The film is one of only four Indian entries chosen for the APM, Asia’s largest co-production and investment platform, known for spotlighting breakthrough cinema and bold new voices. Alongside the Bhatts, producers Alan McAlex and Grishma Shah are also backing the project.
This year, the APM received a record 455 submissions from 44 countries, narrowing the list down to just 30 projects from 15 nations—placing Difficult Daughters in elite company.

The selection marks a significant achievement for the Bhatt family, especially as Alia continues expanding her influence behind the camera. The APM, held from September 20 to 23 as part of BIFF (September 17–26), is known to open doors to global co-production deals, distribution opportunities, and festival premieres.
With the buzz already building, Difficult Daughters is poised to be one of the most anticipated indie films to watch out for in the coming year.
