Volkswagen has opened pre-bookings for the Tayron R-Line in India ahead of its official market launch scheduled for later this month. The move marks the German carmaker’s entry into the premium three-row SUV segment, with the Tayron R-Line positioned as its new flagship offering for the Indian market. Interested customers can reserve the SUV with a token amount of ₹51,000 through authorized Volkswagen dealerships or via the company’s official online platforms.
The Tayron R-Line will be locally assembled in India and is expected to play a key role in strengthening Volkswagen’s premium portfolio. Designed as a seven-seater SUV, the model targets buyers looking for a blend of performance, space, and advanced technology. Once launched, it will compete directly with established players such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and Toyota Fortuner in the segment.
Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine producing 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Built on the MQB EVO platform, which it shares with the Tiguan R-Line, the SUV is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds and achieve a top speed of 224 kmph.
