Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the new-generation GLB EV will be launched in India, adding another electric model to the luxury carmaker's growing portfolio in the country. The announcement was made by Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz India, during the company's half-yearly sales call. He also said the electric CLA has performed well in India and confirmed that the company is planning to introduce the new GLC EV.
The new GLB EV is based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture platform and was first unveiled globally in December 2025. The electric compact luxury SUV is already available in several international markets, including the United Kingdom. While Mercedes-Benz has not yet revealed India-specific specifications, pricing or a launch date, the company has indicated that more than one variant could be considered for the Indian market.
Globally, the GLB EV is available in GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4MATIC versions. The single-motor GLB 250+ produces 272 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, while the dual-motor GLB 350 4MATIC delivers 353 horsepower and 515 Nm. Both versions use an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery, with the single-motor model offering a claimed WLTP driving range of up to 631 kilometres.

The electric SUV uses an 800-volt electrical architecture that supports DC fast charging at speeds of up to 320 kW. Mercedes-Benz claims the battery can recover as much as 260 kilometres of driving range in around 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions. The technology could make the GLB EV suitable for longer journeys while reducing charging times compared with many existing electric vehicles.
The GLB EV retains the upright profile of the combustion-powered model, with connected LED lighting and squared-off wheel arches. Electric-specific elements include a sealed grille with illuminated stars, a prominent three-pointed star, flush door handles and short overhangs. The global model can be configured with either five or seven seats, offering flexibility for buyers seeking a premium electric SUV with additional passenger space.
Inside, the international-specification model features the MBUX Superscreen with a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen and a separate passenger display. It runs on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System with artificial intelligence support from Microsoft, Google and ChatGPT-4. Other features include over-the-air updates, built-in Google Maps, a panoramic glass roof with opacity control, ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos and an advanced driver assistance system.
