Kia has unveiled the all-electric Syros EV ahead of its official launch in India later this month, with bookings now open for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Built on the K1 platform, the Syros EV closely resembles its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart in terms of design and interior layout while introducing a fully electric powertrain. The electric SUV shares its battery and motor options with the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric sold in the Indian market.
The exterior design remains largely unchanged from the petrol-powered Syros, with the most noticeable difference being the charging port positioned on the front fender in place of the conventional fuel filler cap. The SUV retains its signature front and rear lighting, body cladding, bumper styling and 17-inch alloy wheels. Kia is offering the Syros EV in nine exterior colours, while the X-Line variant receives exclusive shades including Matte Graphite and Aurora Black Pearl.
Inside the cabin, the Syros EV features Kia's Trinity Panoramic Display, integrating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 5-inch climate control display. The SUV also comes equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. Other comfort features include powered and ventilated front seats, sliding and reclining rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, rear sunshades, a dual-camera dashcam and a 16-litre front storage compartment.

The Syros EV will be available in five variants — HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and X-Line — with features varying across the lineup. Safety equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, hill-start assist, front parking sensors and an electronic parking brake, positioning the SUV competitively in the growing electric vehicle segment.
Powering the Syros EV are two battery pack options: a 42 kWh unit and a larger 51.4 kWh pack. According to Kia, the 51.4 kWh version delivers an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 526 kilometres, while the 42 kWh variant offers a claimed range of 443 kilometres on a single charge. The larger battery is paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque, while the smaller battery develops 135 hp with the same torque output. Kia claims the higher-capacity variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
The Syros EV supports both 7.4 kW and 11 kW AC charging options, along with 100 kW DC fast charging. Using a 7.4 kW AC charger, the 42 kWh battery can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in approximately six hours, while the 51.4 kWh battery requires around seven hours and 15 minutes. With a 100 kW DC fast charger, the larger battery can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in about 39 minutes, offering quicker turnaround times for long-distance travel. The launch of the Syros EV further strengthens Kia's expanding electric vehicle portfolio in India as competition in the segment continues to intensify.
