Honda has launched the XR300L and XR300 Rally in India, expanding its range of lightweight adventure and dual-sport motorcycles. The XR300L is priced at Rs 1.83 lakh, while the more adventure-focused XR300 Rally costs Rs 2.08 lakh, with both prices being ex-showroom. The two motorcycles are locally manufactured in India and will be sold through Honda BigWing dealerships. Bookings for both models are now open, giving Honda a new entry in a growing segment of motorcycles designed to combine everyday usability with off-road capability.
The XR300L is positioned as the more affordable and straightforward model, while the XR300 Rally carries a Rs 25,000 premium for additional touring and adventure-focused equipment. Both motorcycles compete in India's expanding lightweight off-road segment, which includes models such as the Hero Xpulse 210 and Kawasaki KLX230. Honda is aiming to offer riders an alternative to larger and more expensive adventure motorcycles, with the XR300L focusing on a simpler dual-sport setup and the Rally version adding equipment intended to make longer-distance riding more comfortable.
Both motorcycles are powered by a 293.5cc single-cylinder engine with air- and oil-cooling. The engine is related to the unit used in the Honda CB300F and produces around 24.3bhp and 26.5Nm of torque in international markets. For India, Honda has revised the exhaust layout compared with the South American-specification XR300L. The motorcycles use a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while their off-road-focused setup includes 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels.

The XR300 Rally gets several additional features over the standard XR300L to justify its higher price. It comes with a larger fuel tank, taller windscreen, knuckle guards and rally-inspired bodywork, giving it a more adventure-oriented appearance and touring focus. The Rally also gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console along with more extensive switchgear. These additions make it slightly heavier than the XR300L, while the seat is also expected to be marginally taller. Honda has not yet announced the complete India-specific specifications, including final kerb weights, seat heights and suspension travel figures.
The launch gives Honda a stronger presence in India's lightweight dual-sport and adventure motorcycle category, a segment that has attracted increasing interest from riders looking for manageable motorcycles with genuine off-road hardware. The XR300L's positioning places it close to established lightweight off-road options while offering a larger engine capacity than some rivals. The XR300 Rally, meanwhile, is aimed at buyers who want a more touring-friendly package with additional equipment without moving into the larger and more expensive adventure motorcycle category.
With prices of Rs 1.83 lakh and Rs 2.08 lakh, the XR300L and XR300 Rally respectively broaden Honda's motorcycle portfolio in India while offering two distinct approaches to the same platform. The standard XR300L is focused on affordability and dual-sport use, whereas the Rally adds touring-oriented features and equipment. With local manufacturing, BigWing availability and bookings already open, Honda is positioning the two motorcycles to compete in a segment where demand for versatile and off-road-capable machines continues to grow.
