Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 series could arrive with higher price tags than last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7 lineup, according to a new leak citing retail and sales channel sources. The rumoured foldable family is expected to include two models—the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Samsung's first wide-folding Galaxy Z Fold 8—although the company has not officially confirmed their launch or pricing details.
The latest report suggests that the anticipated price increase will primarily affect European and Asian markets, with rising manufacturing costs cited as a key reason behind the move. However, the leak does not specifically mention whether the Indian market will also see a similar increase when the devices are introduced later this year.
Industry observers note that the expected price hike aligns with a broader trend across the smartphone sector, where manufacturers are facing higher production expenses due to shortages of memory and storage components. Rising prices of DRAM and NAND chips have already prompted several technology companies to consider increasing the prices of premium smartphones and other consumer electronics.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to succeed last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7, while the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumoured to become Samsung's first wide-folding smartphone. Recent certifications and regulatory listings have fuelled speculation that the new foldables could be nearing their official debut, although Samsung has yet to announce a launch date or reveal any specifications.
For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 debuted in India in July 2025 with a starting price of Rs. 1,74,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB model was launched at Rs. 1,86,999, while the top-end 16GB + 1TB version carried a price tag of Rs. 2,16,999. The device featured a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X foldable display, a 6.5-inch outer screen and a 4,400mAh battery with 25W wired fast charging support.
Although the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series remains the subject of leaks and speculation, reports indicate that Samsung is preparing significant upgrades while navigating increasing component costs. Until the company makes an official announcement, details regarding pricing, specifications and market availability should be treated as preliminary, with consumers and industry watchers expected to closely follow further developments in the lead-up to the launch.
