Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to return to domestic cricket in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, with fans eagerly anticipating their participation. Kohli will represent Delhi against Andhra Pradesh in Bengaluru, marking his first appearance in the competition in nearly 15 years. Rohit Sharma, captaining Mumbai, is also expected to feature prominently in the List A tournament. Alongside them, several other high-profile players, such as Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Abhishek Sharma, will be in action, adding significant star power to the domestic circuit.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pay structure for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, match fees are determined based on a player's experience in List A cricket. Players who have featured in more than 40 List A matches fall into the highest bracket and are entitled to ₹60,000 per day of the match. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, with hundreds of List A appearances each—including ODIs and domestic tournaments—qualify for this top category.
This means Kohli and Rohit will earn ₹60,000 per match during their participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The amount is paid per day, but since most List A matches are completed in a single day, the per-match fee effectively stands at ₹60,000 for each game they play. This is a standard rate applied uniformly to all senior players with extensive List A experience, regardless of their international stature.

The return of these two cricketing giants to domestic cricket has generated immense excitement, as it provides a rare opportunity to see them compete at the state level. Their participation is also expected to boost crowd attendance and viewership for the tournament, which serves as a key platform for players to earn national selection and for teams to prepare for bigger challenges. The BCCI's decision to maintain a fixed pay scale ensures fairness while recognizing experience across all levels of domestic cricket.
