A tense moment unfolded during the one-off Test between India and Afghanistan in New Chandigarh as India pacer Mohammed Siraj became involved in a heated exchange with Afghanistan batter Rahmat Shah. The incident occurred during Afghanistan's first innings when Rahmat adopted a cautious batting approach while partnering Sharafuddin Ashraf, who appeared to be struggling with a leg injury. Siraj's frustration was visible as Afghanistan attempted to resist India's dominance in the match.
The exchange began when Rahmat defended one of Siraj's deliveries back towards the bowler. Despite the batter being safely inside his crease, Siraj reacted aggressively by throwing the ball back at the stumps. The action immediately attracted attention on the field, highlighting the growing tension between the two players during a challenging period for the Afghan batting lineup.
Siraj's irritation continued on the following delivery after Rahmat once again defended solidly. The Indian fast bowler walked towards the batter and exchanged words, seemingly urging him to play more positively. While the exact nature of the conversation was not known, the brief confrontation added extra intensity to a contest that had already become heavily one-sided in India's favor.

The breakthrough India sought arrived shortly afterwards. Sharafuddin Ashraf attempted to attack debutant spinner Manav Suthar but failed to capitalize, losing his wicket in the process. Suthar then struck again just a few deliveries later by dismissing Rahmat Shah, further strengthening India's grip on the match and leaving Afghanistan in deep trouble.
Suthar emerged as the standout performer of the Test, producing an impressive debut display with a match haul of seven wickets. The left-arm spinner had earlier dismantled Afghanistan's first innings with figures of 6 for 33 as the visitors were bowled out for 152 in response to India's imposing first-innings total of 564 for 8 declared. His performance played a crucial role in forcing Afghanistan to follow on.
India completed a historic victory on the third day, bowling Afghanistan out for 112 in their second innings. Spinners Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav shared seven wickets as the hosts wrapped up proceedings with an innings and 300-run triumph. The result marked India's biggest-ever victory in Test cricket, surpassing their previous record win by an innings and 272 runs against the West Indies in Rajkot in 2018, while also underlining the team's dominance throughout the match.
