Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their second consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) title with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The triumph not only cemented RCB's status among the league's most successful franchises but also earned the team a prize purse of Rs 20 crore. Runners-up Gujarat Titans received Rs 12.5 crore for their campaign.
The IPL 2026 prize distribution also rewarded the other playoff teams. Rajasthan Royals, who were eliminated in Qualifier 2, received Rs 7 crore, while Sunrisers Hyderabad, who exited in the Eliminator, earned Rs 6.5 crore. The financial rewards capped another highly competitive season that concluded with RCB successfully defending their crown.
After being asked to bat first, Gujarat Titans posted 155 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Washington Sundar led the resistance with an unbeaten half-century off 37 balls, but disciplined bowling from RCB prevented the Titans from building significant momentum. Rasikh Salam Dar starred with figures of 3 for 27, while Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early to keep the scoring rate under control on a challenging surface.

Chasing 156, RCB were guided by a commanding innings from Virat Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 75 off 42 deliveries. The veteran batter reached his half-century in just 25 balls, recording his fastest IPL fifty and his highest score in the tournament's playoffs. His innings, featuring nine boundaries and three sixes, ensured Bengaluru reached the target with two overs to spare.
The victory extended several remarkable records. RCB became only the third franchise after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to win back-to-back IPL titles. The result also maintained the trend of Qualifier 1 winners lifting the IPL trophy, while Kohli's unbeaten knock continued RCB's undefeated streak in matches where he has scored a half-century since 2025.
For Gujarat Titans, champions in 2022 at the same venue, the defeat ended an impressive campaign. The team struggled to overcome RCB's disciplined bowling attack and the demands of a hectic travel schedule leading into the final. Nevertheless, GT finished as runners-up and secured a substantial prize payout, while RCB celebrated another historic chapter in the franchise's IPL journey.
