Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 5 wickets in a rain-shortened 14-over IPL match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, chasing 96 runs in 12.1 overs. Delayed by rain, PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl, capitalizing on disciplined bowling and a spirited chase to secure the win.
RCB, batting first, struggled early, losing Phil Salt (4) and Virat Kohli (1) to Arshdeep Singh’s fiery spell. Rajat Patidar’s 23 offered brief resistance, but wickets tumbled regularly, with Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11) and Marco Jansen (2/10) dismantling the middle order. Tim David’s unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes, propped RCB to 95/9, with Harpreet Brar (2/25) striking twice late. PBKS’ bowlers maintained tight lines, conceding just one extra.
Chasing 96, PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh (13) and Priyansh Arya (16) early to Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/26) and Josh Hazlewood (3/14), respectively. Shreyas Iyer (7) and Josh Inglis (14) fell to Hazlewood’s pace, but Nehal Wadhera’s explosive 33 not out off 19 balls, with 3 fours and 3 sixes, turned the tide. Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 7, including a six, sealed the chase at 98/5 with 11 balls to spare, despite Shashank Singh’s brief 1.

Rajat Patidar, Captain of RCB said they could have done better as a batting unit. "The importance of batting relies on partnerships, where we did not keep up as we kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The credit goes to Punjab." he said.
