India women secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the third T20I at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The hosts dominated proceedings, restricting Sri Lanka to a modest total before completing the chase with consummate ease.
Teen sensation Shafali Verma led India’s batting charge with an unbeaten 79 off 42 balls, smashing 11 boundaries and three sixes. Her knock became the highest individual T20I score by an Indian against Sri Lanka, surpassing Jemimah Rodrigues’ 76 from 2022, and powered India to victory with 40 balls to spare.
Renuka Singh Thakur and Deepti Sharma starred with the ball, with Renuka dismantling the Sri Lankan top order and picking three wickets for 21 runs in four overs. Deepti Sharma supported brilliantly, also taking three wickets, helping to restrict the visitors to 112/7 in their 20 overs.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur set two significant records in the match. She became the most successful captain in women’s T20Is with 77 wins, surpassing Australia’s Meg Lanning, and also became the first captain to record 20 victories against Sri Lanka in the format, overtaking Charlotte Edwards’ previous record.
Deepti Sharma achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first player in women’s T20Is to score 1,000 runs and take 150 wickets. She also equaled Australia’s Megan Schutt as the highest wicket-taker in the format with 151 wickets. The fourth match of the series is scheduled for December 28 at the same venue.
