Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and popular actor Vijay is set to steer his fledgling party toward the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections during a major closed-door consultation in Mamallapuram on Sunday. Around 3,000 state and district-level functionaries are expected to participate in the high-security meeting at a private hall, focusing on election preparedness, organisational strengthening, and campaign blueprint.
Entry is strictly controlled with digital identity cards and QR-code verification, coordinated by party General Secretary N. Anand. The event reflects TVK’s emphasis on disciplined mobilisation as it prepares to challenge established players like DMK and AIADMK. This marks Vijay’s first significant party gathering since his massive public rally in Erode on December 18, after which he has maintained a relatively low public profile amid various controversies.
TVK executive committee chief coordinator Sengottaiyan revealed that a comprehensive statewide campaign tour will kick off from Chennai on Republic Day, January 26. The tour aims to cover all 234 Assembly constituencies, featuring direct interactions with party executives and grassroots workers at every halt. Crucially, Vijay is expected to decide and announce whether TVK will contest the polls independently or seek strategic alliances.

The meeting comes at a time when political temperatures in Tamil Nadu are rising. AIADMK has rolled out its election campaign with the slogan “Protect the People, Save Tamil Nadu,” projecting itself as the main opposition force. The ruling DMK, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, continues to highlight the success of its welfare schemes—especially those benefiting women—and stresses unity and inclusive growth.
Sunday’s deliberations are widely seen as a defining moment for Vijay’s political journey. Insiders anticipate clarity on TVK’s core messaging, organisational priorities, and tactical approach as the party positions itself as a fresh alternative in the state’s high-stakes electoral arena.
