The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) celebrated its third anniversary at the party’s Panaiyur office with high energy, as party President Vijay led the festivities, signaling a renewed focus on the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The event marked three years since the party’s launch on February 2, 2024, when Vijay formally announced his political entry and unveiled TVK’s name.
TVK has rapidly established itself as a rising political force in Tamil Nadu through large conventions and grassroots mobilization. Its first major convention at Vikravandi in Villupuram district drew massive crowds, surprising many political observers, while the subsequent event in Madurai expanded the party’s reach and strengthened its volunteer base across the state.
Vijay launched the party’s first full-scale election campaign from Tiruchirappalli, demonstrating TVK’s preparedness for the assembly elections. However, the campaign faced a temporary pause following disruptions linked to the Karur stampede incident, which affected a key TVK public meeting. The Panaiyur anniversary event marked the symbolic resumption of the party’s political activities.

The ceremony began with Vijay being warmly welcomed by party officials, including General Secretary N. Anand and senior leader Aadhav Arjuna. He paid floral tributes to statues of TVK’s ideological leaders, hoisted the party flag, and reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s vision and organizational discipline, setting a formal and symbolic tone for the celebrations.
The highlight came during a folk music performance by singer Velmurugan, when Vijay broke protocol to join the stage and dance energetically, eliciting loud cheers and applause from party members and volunteers. The spontaneous act was widely interpreted as a symbol of renewed confidence and energy within TVK.
For supporters, the anniversary was more than a commemorative event; it was a strong message that Vijay and TVK are back in campaign mode. Analysts note that this public display of vigor could help energize the party base and reinforce its positioning as a serious contender in Tamil Nadu’s upcoming elections.
