A catastrophic crash on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway claimed one life and left 18 others injured on Saturday afternoon, after a container trailer truck reportedly suffered a brake failure and plowed into a line of vehicles.
The horrifying incident unfolded near the Adoshi tunnel under the jurisdiction of Khopoli police in Khalapur taluka, Raigad district. According to police, the trailer truck—traveling at high speed—lost control and crashed into a staggering 20 vehicles, including several luxury cars such as BMWs and Mercedes-Benz.
“Initial investigation suggests the vehicle’s brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control. Nineteen individuals sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Navi Mumbai. Tragically, one woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment,” a police official confirmed.
