The Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results 2026 are set to be one of the most closely watched political outcomes in India, following a high-turnout election where voter participation is estimated at over 85 percent. The state voted for all 234 constituencies in a single phase on April 23, setting the stage for a decisive count that will determine the next government.
The election has primarily been viewed as a direct contest between two major political alliances. On one side is the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, which is aiming to retain power. On the other side is the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance, headed by Edappadi K Palaniswami, which is seeking a return to governance after a five-year gap.
This election cycle has also seen the rise of newer political forces, adding more complexity to the contest. Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and Senthamizhan Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) have entered the electoral arena, attempting to challenge the dominance of the traditional Dravidian parties and expand their political influence across the state.

Exit poll projections have presented a highly divided and inconsistent picture of the likely outcome. Axis My India suggests the DMK-led alliance could secure between 92 and 110 seats, while AIADMK is projected at 22 to 23 seats, with TVK surprisingly estimated between 98 and 120 seats. In contrast, JVC projects an AIADMK-led victory with 128 to 147 seats, placing DMK+ at 75 to 95 seats and TVK at 8 to 15 seats. Other agencies like Kamakhya Analytics and Matrize have also shown varying results, with some indicating a close contest between DMK+ and AIADMK+, while TVK’s performance ranges from modest to significant depending on the projection.
