Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M K Stalin took a sharp jab at political rivals, emphasizing that the DMK is a disciplined movement dedicated to preserving Tamil Nadu’s unique identity and fostering constructive progress, not one that disrupts public life with chaotic gatherings. In a pointed reference to actor-politician Vijay’s recent state-wide tour from Tiruchirappalli, where frenzied crowds broke medians to get closer to their leader, Stalin underscored the DMK’s commitment to order and purpose.
In a letter addressed to party cadres, Stalin wrote, “The DMK is not a movement that gathers unprincipled crowds or disturbs public tranquility with noise and chaos. When we assemble, we do so as a disciplined battalion, and after our meetings, we disperse as soldiers with a mission.” His remarks highlighted the party’s ethos of organized and meaningful engagement, contrasting it with what he implied were disorderly displays by others.
Stalin urged DMK members to participate in the party’s annual “Mupperum Vizha” event, scheduled for September 17 in Karur, to mark the birth anniversaries of rationalist leader ‘Periyar’ E V Ramasamy, former Chief Minister C N Annadurai, and the DMK’s founding day. The event, starting at 5 PM, will be presided over by party general secretary Duraimurugan, with key leaders like treasurer and Lok Sabha member T R Baalu and principal secretary and Minister K N Nehru in attendance.

The Chief Minister expressed pride in carrying forward the DMK’s 75-year legacy, describing the party as a “fortress” rooted in its principles, impervious to challenges from old or new political adversaries. He emphasized that the tri-celebrations inspire party members to continue their work in building a modern Tamil Nadu while staying true to the state’s cultural and ideological roots.
The event is expected to draw thousands of DMK supporters, showcasing the party’s strength and unity. Stalin’s remarks have sparked discussions about the contrasting styles of political mobilization in Tamil Nadu, with the DMK positioning itself as a disciplined force focused on governance and progress, while subtly critiquing the crowd-driven spectacles of emerging political players like Vijay.
