A woman who had spent years begging for a living died in Mandya, leaving locals shocked after bags containing a large amount of cash were discovered inside her rented home. The woman, identified as Hoor Unnisa, lived alone in the Guthalu locality and had reportedly accumulated the money over the years. The initial estimate put the cash at more than ₹30 lakh, although the exact amount had not been established when the discovery was first reported.

Hoor reportedly lived by herself after her sister, who was also unmarried, died around two years ago. She died on Sunday following age-related ailments. After her death, locals who visited the rented house found several bags containing cash. The discovery surprised members of the local community because Hoor was known to depend on begging as her main source of livelihood and lived a relatively modest life.

According to preliminary information from community leaders, more than 30 bags containing money were found inside the house. Around ₹8-9 lakh had been counted by Sunday, while the cash stored in approximately 20 other bags was still waiting to be counted. As a result, the total amount could not immediately be confirmed. The money was reportedly found in different bags kept inside the house, prompting local residents to seek the involvement of community representatives.

The cash was subsequently handed over to the Guthalu mosque for safekeeping. Muslim community leaders reportedly contacted Hoor's relatives after the discovery and informed them about the money. The remaining bags are expected to be opened and counted after the relatives arrive. Until the complete amount is verified, the cash will remain under the custody of the mosque, according to the information available.

The discovery has raised questions about how Hoor accumulated such a substantial amount while relying on begging for her livelihood. Locals were particularly surprised by the amount because she had lived alone and was reportedly known in the area as a woman who depended on alms. However, the circumstances in which the money was accumulated and kept at her home have not been fully established.

The question of who will receive the money is also yet to be determined. Community members have indicated that a decision will be taken after Hoor's relatives arrive and the entire cash amount is counted and ascertained. Until then, the money remains in safe custody. The unusual discovery has drawn attention in Mandya, with residents awaiting further clarity on the final amount and the rightful heirs to the cash.
