Security forces detected several suspected drones originating from Pakistan hovering over forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening. The intrusions were reported across Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts, prompting immediate alertness among troops stationed in these sensitive sectors.
The drones entered Indian territory for brief periods before retreating to the Pakistan side. In the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, Army personnel opened fire using medium and light machine guns at approximately 6:35 pm after spotting a drone over Gania-Kalsian village. Another object with blinking lights was observed at the same time in Khabbar village of Teryath, moving from Dharmsal in Kalakote towards Bharakh.
Further sightings occurred in Samba’s Ramgarh sector, where a drone-like object with blinking lights hovered over Chak Babral village around 7:15 pm. In Poonch district’s Mankote sector along the LoC, a similar flying object was tracked moving from Tain towards Topa at 6:25 pm. All incidents involved objects displaying characteristic blinking lights, raising strong suspicions of Pakistani origin.

In response to the multiple detections, security forces launched extensive ground search operations across the affected forward areas to locate any possible payloads or evidence dropped by the drones. The heightened vigil follows a recent recovery on Friday night in Paloora village of Ghagwal near the IB in Samba district, where an arms consignment—including two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds, and a grenade—was seized, allegedly delivered via a Pakistan-origin drone.
The repeated drone intrusions have intensified security concerns along the volatile LoC and IB, with forces maintaining high alert and conducting thorough searches to prevent any infiltration or arms smuggling attempts. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely amid the ongoing pattern of aerial violations from across the border.
