Satua Baba, a prominent spiritual leader from Varanasi, grabbed headlines at the ongoing Magh Mela in Prayagraj after being spotted driving a Porsche Turbo 911 valued at around Rs 2 crore. The religious leader, head of Satua Baba Peeth, has previously attracted attention for his collection of luxury vehicles, including a Land Rover Defender worth Rs 3 crore.
Videos and photographs of Satua Baba driving his high-end cars have gone viral on social media, generating both admiration and criticism. Speaking to NDTV, he defended his collection, asserting that his resources are meant for yogic pursuits and spiritual activities rather than personal indulgence, emphasizing his dedication to the principles of Sanatan Dharma.
Taking a political dig, Satua Baba praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that India is now celebrating Sanatan Dharma under the current leadership, in contrast to previous regimes. He also emphasized the importance of spirituality over luxury, claiming his lifestyle serves religious purposes rather than hedonism.

Born Jagadguru Mahamandaleswar Santosh Das, Satua Baba renounced his family at the age of 11 to pursue a spiritual path. He became the head of Satua Baba Peeth in 2012 after the death of his predecessor and was conferred the title of Jagadguru during the Mahakumbh in 2025, marking his influence in the religious community.
During Magh Mela 2026, thousands of devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam Ghat on Ekadashi, with the next major ritual scheduled on January 15 for Makar Sankranti. The administration has deployed around 10,000 police personnel, along with UP ATS mobile patrols, to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the event.
While Satua Baba’s luxurious vehicles have sparked debate, he continues to use them publicly, sometimes alongside camels and tractors, showcasing a blend of modernity and tradition. The focus on his lifestyle reflects the growing intersection of spiritual leadership and media attention at large religious gatherings.
