A 25-year-old woman who runs a beauty parlour in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district has accused a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of assault, molestation, and issuing death threats. The incident allegedly occurred late Tuesday night in the Nagod police station area and came to public attention after CCTV footage and mobile videos of the assault went viral on social media, prompting police action and political response.
The accused has been identified as Pulkit Tandon, BJP Nagod Mandal President. According to the victim’s complaint, she was called to a warehouse near her parlour around 10 pm by RK Namdev, an employee of Tandon, under the pretext of providing services to a customer. Upon reaching the warehouse, she allegedly realised there was no customer present and attempted to leave.
As per the FIR, the woman alleged that Tandon, who was reportedly consuming alcohol, grabbed her hand, pulled her back, and tried to stop her from leaving. Namdev was also present at the spot. When she raised an alarm, her mother and brother, whose house is located nearby, rushed to the scene after hearing loud commotion.

The complaint further states that when the woman’s brother began recording the incident on his mobile phone, Tandon allegedly smashed the phone to prevent filming. He is also accused of throwing a liquor bottle and slapping and pushing the woman violently, causing her to fall against an iron rod. Both the woman and her mother reportedly sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. The family has alleged they were pressured not to lodge a police complaint.
By Wednesday morning, videos and CCTV footage of the incident surfaced online, triggering public outrage. Following mounting pressure, police registered an FIR against Pulkit Tandon and RK Namdev. Officials confirmed that the viral footage has been taken on record and is part of the ongoing investigation, though no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.
In response to the allegations and circulating visuals, BJP District General Secretary Ramakant Gautam issued a show-cause notice to Pulkit Tandon, seeking an explanation. Authorities said further action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
