Three people were killed and several others injured across Ukraine after Russia launched overnight drone and missile attacks, with Kyiv coming under fire for the second consecutive night. The strikes triggered air raid alerts in several regions and caused damage to civilian infrastructure, while both sides reported carrying out attacks against military and industrial targets.
In Kyiv, explosions were reported shortly after midnight before authorities issued an air raid warning, an unusual sequence that limited the time available for residents to seek shelter. The city administration said one woman was killed and two people were injured in the attack. Several administrative buildings, warehouses, a garage complex, and city tram infrastructure were also damaged, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
The city of Kharkiv was among the worst-hit areas, with local officials reporting two deaths and around 20 injuries following a series of overnight strikes. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 169 long-range drones and seven missiles, including five ballistic missiles, during the attack. Air defence systems reportedly intercepted or disrupted 139 drones, while several missiles and drones struck locations across the country.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces targeted arms industry facilities in Kyiv, including a plant producing components for Flamingo cruise missiles and a facility involved in assembling medium- and long-range drones. The ministry also claimed that Russian air defences intercepted hundreds of Ukrainian drones launched in attacks against Russian territory.
Ukraine also reported carrying out long-range strikes inside Russia, targeting energy and industrial facilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said strikes reached regions including Saratov, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, and Voronezh. Russian officials reported damage to oil and gas-related infrastructure, including facilities linked to energy production and transportation.
The latest escalation has further intensified concerns over the ongoing conflict and the vulnerability of critical infrastructure on both sides. While Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange attacks on military and industrial targets, civilian areas remain affected, increasing pressure on international efforts aimed at reducing hostilities.
