Russia has raised questions with the United States over what it alleges is Washington’s deeper involvement in Ukrainian strikes against targets deep inside Russian territory. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made the remarks in comments broadcast on Friday, claiming that US support included the provision of intelligence to Ukraine.

Lavrov said Moscow had submitted several questions to the US State Department seeking clarification over alleged American involvement in organising and carrying out strikes. He specifically referred to intelligence data and alleged US participation in attacks against civilian targets inside Russia. There was no immediate comment from the US side on Lavrov’s allegations.

The remarks come amid continued uncertainty over efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. According to the information provided, no peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv have taken place since February, after the United States ended its mediation efforts following its military involvement in the conflict with Iran. The prolonged war has continued despite repeated diplomatic efforts to explore possible avenues towards a settlement.

Lavrov also referred to an earlier summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, saying Putin had previously indicated that Moscow was prepared to consider US proposals for ending the war. However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has denied that any agreement was reached at the meeting, arguing that the conflict would have already ended if such an agreement had been secured.

The Russian foreign minister further indicated that Moscow remained open to receiving Trump’s envoys if they returned to Russia for discussions on Ukraine. At the same time, he warned that Russia would intensify efforts to disrupt Western military supplies reaching Ukrainian forces, indicating that Moscow intends to increase pressure on the logistical support provided by Kyiv’s allies.

Ukraine continues to receive military assistance from Western countries as the war enters its fifth year, although Kyiv faces shortages in some critical areas, particularly interceptors used to defend against Russian missile attacks. The competing claims over military support, intelligence and long-range strikes add another layer of tension between Russia and the United States as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled.
