Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday said that attempts were being made both within and outside India to create false narratives aimed at undermining the country’s growth and global rise. He made the remarks while addressing a programme held on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti. Bhagwat said that despite possessing significant population strength, financial resources, organisational capacity and political influence, those opposing India’s rise were using multiple methods to spread misinformation.
He urged people to remain vigilant and firm in what he described as India’s civilisational values. He asserted that India’s development was not only important for its own progress but also for global welfare. A strong India, he said, was essential for global stability and prosperity. He added that efforts to weaken the country’s image through “false reports and narratives” should be countered through unity and adherence to cultural values. Referring to Maharana Pratap and the historic Battle of Haldighati, Bhagwat said the episode represented India’s long-standing tradition of resistance against foreign domination.
He described Indian history as one of continuous struggle to preserve dharma, culture and self-respect rather than a narrative of subjugation. He further said Maharana Pratap’s legacy should be studied in greater depth to understand his ideals of courage, sacrifice and service to society. According to him, such historical figures offer lessons relevant to present-day challenges in governance, social unity and national development. Bhagwat emphasised that India’s strength lies not only in material resources but also in its civilisational foundation.

He said moral character, discipline and social harmony are essential for national progress, adding that citizens should rise above narrow identities and work collectively for the country’s advancement. He also highlighted the importance of unity in diversity, stating that different identities can coexist without conflict. Unity, he said, does not require sameness but mutual respect and cooperation among all sections of society. Reiterating his reference to the Battle of Haldighati, Bhagwat said historical accounts, including those from Mughal chroniclers, reflected the intensity of the conflict and the resilience of Indian forces.
He said India has repeatedly resisted foreign aggression while maintaining its cultural identity through centuries of change. Concluding his address, the RSS chief said India’s rise depends on the strength of its citizens’ values and character. He urged people to draw inspiration from Maharana Pratap’s life and continue working towards national unity and collective progress.
