Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his nephew T Harish Rao, alleging that the previous BRS government inflicted greater injustice on the state in river water utilization than during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era. Speaking at a presentation on irrigation issues, Reddy invoked a quote from poet Kaloji Narayana Rao to assert that local exploiters deserve harsher punishment than outsiders.
Reddy declared that it would not be unjust to hang KCR and Harish Rao for their handling of Krishna and Godavari river waters and fund allocations, comparing their actions to those who opposed Telangana's formation. He emphasized that the BRS leaders represented a "bigger evil" for echoing anti-Telangana stances while in power.
Acknowledging India's democratic framework, the Chief Minister noted that even terrorist Ajmal Kasab received a fair trial before execution, implying KCR would have ample legal protections. Reddy extended an invitation to KCR to participate in the ongoing Assembly session for an open debate on water projects, promising respect while subtly criticizing his absence since losing power in 2023.

Reddy accused the BRS of delaying projects, inflating costs—such as raising the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme from over Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 80,000 crore—and redesigning Kaleshwaram without proper reports, allegedly to favor contractors. He dismissed KCR's claims of cooperation with Andhra Pradesh as falsehoods.
The remarks prompted sharp rebuttal from BRS leaders, who accused Reddy of hypocrisy in inviting KCR for debate while expressing death wishes. Former BRS MLA S Niranjan Reddy claimed the Congress has historically undermined Telangana's interests.
