In a surprising display of courtesy, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally approached Leader of Opposition K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the state Assembly on Monday to exchange pleasantries and shake hands, marking a brief moment of civility on the opening day of the winter session.
The gesture occurred before proceedings commenced, with Revanth Reddy inquiring about KCR's health as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief made a rare appearance, arriving early and taking his seat ahead of most members. Following the Chief Minister's lead, several ministers including Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with newly elected Congress MLA Naveen Yadav, also greeted KCR and sought his blessings.
This unexpected bonhomie unfolded against the backdrop of an intensifying war of words between the two leaders over irrigation projects and river water sharing disputes. The BRS has repeatedly accused Revanth Reddy of using derogatory language toward KCR, including allegations of wishing harm upon him.

Tensions escalated recently when KCR, while announcing plans for a mass movement on the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project, used aggressive rhetoric against the Congress government. In response, Revanth Reddy issued strong warnings, referencing past personal grievances and KCR's injury, while vowing to prevent any political comeback for the former Chief Minister or his family.
KCR's son and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao strongly condemned the personal attacks, emphasizing restraint out of respect for democratic institutions but cautioning that such patience should not be misinterpreted as weakness, highlighting the deep-seated rivalry even as the Assembly witnessed this momentary reconciliation.
