A 35-year-old man, Rohit Saini, was detained in Rajasthan’s Kishangarh for allegedly murdering his wife, Sanju Saini, aged 33, and fabricating a story of a robbery to mislead police. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Ajmer district, has exposed a chilling case of domestic violence, with Saini confessing to slitting his wife’s throat after initially claiming unidentified robbers attacked them.
According to Additional SP Kishangarh, Deepak Kumar, Saini arrived at Yag Narayan Government Hospital in Kishangarh with Sanju, who had severe throat injuries, and minor wounds on himself. He alleged that while returning from Ralawata village on Silora Road after a Rakhi visit, motorbike-riding assailants snatched Sanju’s chain and killed her.
Sanju was declared dead on arrival, and Saini was admitted for treatment. However, police grew suspicious due to inconsistencies in his account, particularly his lack of serious injuries and his claim of transporting his critically injured wife on a motorcycle.
“His statements were contradictory,” said Bhikha Ram Kala, SHO of Kishangarh City Police Station. After Saini’s discharge on Sunday night, intensive questioning revealed he killed Sanju with the help of four accomplices, motivated by strained relations and suspicions of her infidelity. The couple, married since 2018, had a four-year-old daughter who was left at home during the incident. Saini, a BJP Mandal general secretary in Kishangarh, staged the robbery to cover up the murder, police said.

The case sparked outrage among Sanju’s Mali community, with protests outside the hospital demanding justice. The post-mortem report, pending as of Monday, is expected to confirm the cause of death. Police are actively pursuing Saini’s accomplices, with forensic teams collecting evidence from the crime scene. Social media on X reflected public anger, with users like @JaipurTimes calling it a “shameful act” and urging stricter laws against domestic violence.
This incident adds to a disturbing pattern of gender-based violence in Rajasthan, following cases like a Barmer man’s axe murder of his wife over phone use in June 2024. The Kishangarh police, under DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, have vowed a thorough investigation to ensure all involved face justice, as the case highlights the urgent need for addressing domestic disputes and community trust in law enforcement.
